Romans DeMalum

If you care or are interested in Warhammer, I spent about 3 hours with it tonight.
I’m not a warhammer lore person, it doesn’t really seem overly cool to me – Although I’m sure it’s cool to some people, the story behind it all doesn’t grab me. So keep that in mind with anything I write.
The graphics are ok. A little cartoonish, but not like wow (gag!!). Some of the buffs have a pretty neat looking effect, but I wasn’t overly zowed. I like that you can dye you gear, but weird colors like pink and bright orange are off-limits.
Character creation was a little off putting. It seems you can’t be a female tank. Is that right or is like disabled or did I not see the gender key? If that really is how it is, that is dumb. I choose chaos and made what I thought was like a dread knight and got to level 4.
All the quests were the standard fare. Kill some of this, collect some of those blah blah. I did join a public quest and did it enough times to get second place. I just took my gloves reward and scrammed. It’s a neat idea (public quests) but I didn’t feel the need to see what was the first place prize. Mainly because I knew it probably would be lowbie crap that I’d out level and besides, it’s just beta anyway.
I joined Realm vs. Realm a few times. Not what I was expecting. At least at level 4 it felt like the AoC mini games. Basically you join a que and when it fills you get warped to the instance for a game of capture the flag. The actual pvp was ok. Basically it was like VG. Button mashing – With the winners being the team who can focus on one target and or not zerg back from the alter, but form up first and go back as a team.
DDO and Mount and Blade combat is light years more cool.
It has crafting, but I didn’t see any craft trainers or craft quests. I wasn’t really looking either mind you, but vs. adventure quests that were littered all over I think I would have found one craft quest at least by accident.
Maybe it will grow on me. If all the RvR stuff is warp to an instance and capture flags, I’ll be disappointed. I plan on playing on a FFA server – Maybe that will counter act the instance junk.
Overall it was ok. Yeah, just ok…..for me. I have no real interest at this point in learning the lore, reading all the quest text or exploring the land. I want max level, cool gear, PVP and a time killer until Darkfall or VG gets PVP fixes.
